Development Coordinator (part time)

Reports and Accountable to:  Executive Director

 

Employment Category:  Part-time: 20 hours per week

 

Salary range:  $20,000 - $24,500

 

Position Concept:  Central Vermont Adult Education’s (CVAE) Development Coordinator is committed to the organization’s purpose of developing, evaluating, and providing accessible literacy instruction for adult learners 16 years of age and older and to involving the entire community in the encouragement of their efforts.

 The Development Coordinator develops, builds, and maintains strategic relationships and raises funds to support and advance CVAE’s purpose. They widen the circle of community members wishing to invest in CVAE’s mission as donors through effective outreach and issuance of compelling and ongoing invitations to invest in CVAE and our students. The Development Coordinator is a strong team player who meets and fulfills the challenges and opportunities of this position with skill, innovation, judgment, creativity, organization and enthusiasm.

 

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

1.      Fund Development

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and follow-up with individuals, businesses, corporations, foundations, etc. to maintain CVAE’s faithful donor base and to grow and identify new funding opportunities;

  • Create and implement an annual fundraising plan to maintain and increase financial support for CVAE’s strategic goals including targets and timelines for all fund development activities;

  • Increase Major Donor funding opportunities;

  • Write and produce direct mail appeals;

  • Write grants to secure funding and report on outcomes according to funder requirements;

  • Manage annual town funding applications and petitioning processes;

  • Create appropriate opportunities for fund/friend raising events;

  • Provide donor recognition through press releases, website, newsletter and thank you letters;

  • Ensure compliance with ethical fund development principles and federal and state laws.

 

2.      Reporting, Accountability and Other

  • Monitor, evaluate and report on all fund development activities;

  • Maintain and oversee CVAE’s donor database;

  • Ensure and oversee gift processing and timely donor acknowledgments;

  • Reconcile donations and grants with the business office in advance of each board meeting and at fiscal year completion;

  • Improve, as necessary, the systems for tracking, cultivating, and recognizing donors;

  • Maintain up-to-date individual and community partner donor lists for publication and display;

  • Monitor funding trends in CVAE’s service area and adapt strategies accordingly;

  • Build relationships with donors;

  • Treat all CVAE donor records with confidentiality;

  • Participate in CVAE staff meetings, program activities and special events.
